With so many upcoming development in heart of KL are there are parks planned within the city?

If there are not enough greenery and parks interspaced between skyscrappers, KL city centre will be a gigantic CONCRETE metropolis of towering Glass structures acting as "Greenhouses" trapping heat and its air filled with the toxic fumes & noises.

thanks so much for this very detailed & illustrated write up of property development mainly in KL . Extremely informative and well presented. Lots of research, planning , coodination and hardwork has been put into it.

  8. Anonymous on September 16, 2009 11:50 AM

    Thanks for all these info.
I just wonder who is going to live in all these new high end condominiums? if buyers buy it for pure investment, I doubt that there are enough Malaysian tenants in Malaysia who can afford such rental! same comment for expatriates. Who is going to rent all these new condominiums?. First, there are less expatriates in Malaysia or they packages are lower. Second, there are only 3 international schools in Mont Kiara who are already full. Third, the completed projects occupation rate is low. Fourth, traffic is high at peak hours (but this is not really a good reason to not rent there as it is jammed everywhere!). Fifth, because the new sale system, book and pay in 2 years time, it is so easy to buy a unit and sell it after delivery..... if the market is up. In that case, anyone with RM15,000 can make RM100,000 profit. ......... if the market is down, we could have a domino effect in high end property in MK and KLCC area.
I foresee, an over surply of high end units with lower rental.
I am not a property expert at all. I just to understand the market. Your comments are welcome!.

Shouldn't architecture be about RESPECTING and complementing what they call 'genius loci' (a 'spirit' of a place), as well as local context, thus creating meaningful spaces for the local communities?...

The above projects certainly look glitzy and glamorous, but in the long run they will only turn KL further into a soul-less, congested concrete jungle, virtually indistinguishable from Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, Taipei... you name it.

Speaking of which, which one of these glass-and-steel miracles is going to replace the resplendent 1928 Bok House mansion, knocked down in 2006?... Not enough land in Malaysia, I suppose...

KL used to be famous for its greenery and its wide open spaces. Already in teh 19th century the British officers commented in their correspondence that Penang and Singapore were smelly, hot, overcrowded cities but KL was not! Up until about 10 years ago, there was still some visible effort to draw inspiration for new architecture from Asian and Islamic, or at least colonial sources. No more. Good-bye trees, good-bye heritage buildings; in other words, good-bye all the things that used to make KL 'KL'.

  22. HaZe on January 21, 2010 5:23 PM

Excellent compilation! Most of the buildings listed are absolutely mind-blowing... A research well done indeed...

But somehow, its does leave an unsettling feeling in my stomach... with all these developments coming up, what will happen to all the greenery and the massive jams that comes with every new building? Some of the developments are placed at REALLY inappropriate locations... *sigh*

  23. Anonymous on January 30, 2010 5:00 PM

Wow..nice compilation, really useful info for all investors :-) However, like some others i have mix feelings as well, what will happen to all the greenery once this massive buildings are built ? So sad to see KL turn eventually into a concrete junge :-(
On a side note, i think you left out another new development - Axis Pandan near Cheras/Ampang area (the Pandan Indah LRT is just 2 mins walking distance) ..just thought maybe you wanna know :-)
