::: Welcome ::

Melbourne-based Monash University may set up another Malaysian campus, this time in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city.

Presenting in KL Sentral, what is set to be Malaysia's tallest and most iconic school development.

The artistic rendering showed two 48-storey school-cum-residences tower being located just next to Kuala Lumpur's Sentral station, Malaysia's premier transportation and commercial hub.

The authenticity of the proposed project has not been verified, but it is believed to house Monash University's Faculty of Architecture (School of Arts & Design).

Monash currently has 6 academic schools at its suburban Sunway campus.

The iconic twin-tower structure features a sky-park sandwiched in between and acting as a connector between the two structures.

The sky-park will feature swimming pool, gym and a students' cafeteria.

--- THE END ---

Q: What do you think of this project?

Here's a brief musing for 2006 on a quarterly basis. The photos below have been either posted before on this blog or have not. Most photos here have been taken using my best pet of the year, that is my personal Canon Ixus. Have fun reading my craps ... and thanks a lot !

January - March

Chinese New Year 2006 "Open House"

The first quarter of 2006 was truly amazing. A new chapter began as I meander my way from the front gate to the university lecture hall. It was the time when self-learning became a norm. While studying, new friendships were fast established.

I had my first outing of the year with the young adults from my church. Thereafter, invitations to specially organized Recognition Events came like a pouring rain non-stop. Being a trainee distributor for a well-established multi-level marketing company, I attended most of their grandiose events which were held in huge public places such as Stadium Putra and KL's Putra World Trade Centre.

The photos that show a good beginning

Chinese New Year celebrations in 2006 was different than before as my relatives came to town instead of me having to balik kampung (going back to hometown). In the blink of an eye, I began to enjoy live-on-stage performing arts after watching a spectacular percussion performance.

April - June

Colours of Stars

The buzz during the first quarter did not stop there. Its just getting bigger and hotter. From an eye-catching fashion show to many magnificent concerts, and from Jaclyn Victor to pop diva Ruth Sahanaya and to sensational singer Wang Lee Hom of Taiwan, never before my heart was pumping like a big bass drum. On 18 June, I witnessed a historical celebration with more than 40,000 attendees in Stadium Bukit Jalil.

The photos that say the best

Mountain resort tours also became part of my life this quarter. The cool air from the densely populated tropics was very much sought after. The reason for this is the increasing intensity of stress due to assignment datelines and semester final examinations. Yet I started blogging and wasted a great deal of my precious study time pointing my computer mouse here and there.

July - September

Monash Ball Royale Escapade 2006

"What would you say to a Tiger ... Beer?" The first few words I uttered in persuading a girl to be my prom date LoL. Sounds funny but seriously things could have been worst for me. The bright side is that I was still able to have some fun with my uni-mates that royale evening.

The Photos Worth Remembering

Somewhere past the half year mark and I was still pampering myself with great pomp and show. Almost every night I went out till late with friends or even with strangers whom I now call them "new friends". I was about to neglect my studies. But I told myself that I wanted to have the best of both worlds - academic and the outside world. Hesitantly, I stood up for my future and walked my talk. From that day onwards, I went back to uni with all my written notes.

October - December

Saturday Night Fever ... Was I drunk?

October month was pretty boring. Literally everyday I sat near the table with a textbook on hand. Last exam of the year began on Hari Raya week and ended on the second day of November. My routine changed dramatically after that. The boringness slowly subsided and the party maracas began sounding again, starting with Saturday Night Fever at The Loft.

The photos that speak a million words

My year-end camp was a blast. This year's Christmas Musical Drama was again a touching one. The euphoria of Christmas was shared in Singapore with my cousins. One of whom got married recently. Last but not least, I celebrated the end of 2006 and the dawn of a new year with a "Bang" !

The New Year Jump !

This year will be more challenging. I'll begin my studies in Australia, a place I considered far from home. There, I hope to make new friends and become a self-independent student who can excel in all spheres.

Note: Post published today, January 22. Shoutout: If you're a Malaysian youth blogger, you're invited to join me at the Bloggers Meet-up. Click here for more info.

Heavenly BBQ-ed

Semester 2 has ended two weeks ago. Here's what had happened to Bing's belated birthday party, also our semester ending barbeque; held at William's condo on 11 November.

Jinn looks cool but funny here. His hair style mimics that of famous Bollywood superstar, Shah Ruth Khan.

Jinn and Fai proposing to marry Irene. Both holding a flower rose, ...ooops...maybe it's just a slice of watermelon! Ermmm...guess who will she choose?

Private affair with the girls. I only realized now that Jinn was at the back there...alamak!

The party consisting of girls, "Tans" and "gays" (so-called) from Monash. By the way, where's me?

The truly brotherhood picture. Everyone here should be nicknamed "Tan".

Party @ The Loft

09 November, 2006 | Written by Patchay at 12:30 AM in ,

This is The Loft Kuala Lumpur with its aesthetic modern architecture.

The party begins here on Saturday night (4 November) ...

The above picture depicts the ambience inside. The interior looks cozy. The decor and fittings look classy. I wonder how would I freak out in the dark and to the delights of club music? Well, I should be getting ready to stomp hard on the floor and behold the euphoria that may arise.

It turned out to be entertaining initially. Feeling good when dancing with the leng luis (pretty chicks) arrr?

Then, three of us were too exchausted. Don't know why. The truth is that there were just too many "Aunties" and "Uncles" having fun together at the dance floor. No space for us!!!

Good morning Patchay? Still staying awake. Not drunk not dead. It was 3.30am on Sunday morning and the party came to a memorable ending. Indeed, it was a great night till the break of dawn.

Presenting to you Monash Ball Part 1 Photo Post.

Monash Ball 2006 Royale Escapade was held at the Palace of the Golden Horses (a 6-star hotel?) on the 22th of September. It was Monash Malaysia's largest Ball to date as more than 770 people attended (77 tables), including students from different semesters, different faculties, ex-students from Monash Alumni as well as some honourable VIPs.

To cut short, the Ball went on smoothly with many spectacular performances. Without doubt, the Ball has provided a golden opportunity for everyone to mingle around. Due to time constraint, I'll only post some interesting pictures here.

Unlimited Me

16 September, 2006 | Written by Patchay at 1:31 AM in , , ,

Recent unpublished pics...Hahaha...enjoy!!!

Me, Andrew, Baqthier and Sze Hoong

New Friends, New Friends!!! On Merdeka eve, I met these nice guys..."all of sudden". Hahaha...Well, it was a meet-up for Malaysian forumers from SkyscraperCity.Com, arguably the world's largest real estate forum with more than 57,000 members representing different countries all over the world. Remember, Patchay was an active forumer there? Remember now then, at least for "Countdown 2020" Malaysia section (see right-sidebar Avenue [P]). Cheers.

Sadly, out of the hundreds or thousands of Malaysian members...only these few "managed" to turn up that night. We had dinner, walked around and...(speechless). It was a very crowded day at KLCC indeed. There was an organized concert with some Akademi Fantasia celebs on stage and a Merdeka rally organized by UMNO Youth. (Phew...so dangerous when we walked pass these people). Along the way, I even witnessed some stunt acts by the so-called "Mat Rempit" gang as they raced dangerously on city roads at midnight. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves, evidently shown by our smiles above. We departed after watching the magnificent fireworks (see The Spirit of Merdeka post) to Steven's at Taman OUG, where we hangout until 4.00am.

Me, Tim, Harrison and Ji Wi

RLC Movers & Shakers Concert with the PlanetShakers Team from Queensland, Australia. That night, we had a wonderful concert and we were all touched by the powerful message.

Goodbye Sean Park (4th from right)

We bid farewell to our cellmate from South Korea. He went back to serve his country in the National Service. He will always be remembered as a good friend, and of course the "Korean Mafia" game that he taught us how to play. Bang! Bang! Who is the Mafia! 안녕히계세요! (Angyeonghi gaseyo - Goodbye)

Joe, Daniel, Chan Jin and Me

Farewell to old buddy, Joel Soon. Picture taken when we were having lunch in Pizza Evo at TheCurve.

Sometime ago...

My first Monash buddies BBQ gathering, held at William's condominium. Ooops...everyone here is pointing fingers at "Gay Bing". Never mind the scandal, it has no importance at all.

MBC Networking Party

11 August, 2006 | Written by Patchay at 12:55 AM in

Monash Business Club's (MBC) Networking Party was held on August 4, 2006. **The author was a participant in this event.

Was it an event to remember? Well of course at least for this semester's theme - 'Flower Power'. The event began at around 7.00pm with the usual registration of participants. Guess what? All participants had to show something with flowers - attire or any belongings with flowers/flowery pattern on it.

Marathon Drink

Before dinner was served, we had an ice-breaker game. Cannot really remember how the game started, but my friend, Hiresh Tan was somewhat the most sporting guy on stage. He helped another friend of mine to finish a can of Coke in less than 30 seconds? Maybe not. By the way, just two days ago another senior managed to finish 3 cans (uncarbonated drink) in a record breaking time of 21 seconds in front of Red.FM deejays at Monash. >>Can you believe it?

He's shakin' baby. Dirty Dance by Hiresh Tan.

Bill Them All

Back to the story. During dinner, MBC's business clubbers had a chance to mingle around with old and new members alike. We continued with a classic ice-breaker right after our pleasant meal. We were divided into groups, mine was called the "Swift", named after the sporty Suzuki compact car.

We encountered a 15-minutes delay in the first game, not too sure what actually happened though. Still, we waited patiently and listened intently to the game organizers. Finally, the game started and we had to guess the actions presented by the organizers. The actions may come from famous movies, music videos or simply referring to a proverb or phrase. To cut short, my group finished second and it looks like we're going to be the overall champion!

Two Blind Mice

Well, the second game was about blind-folding. Two representatives from each group were blind-folded. The fist rep had to walk from one end to another and choose his/her partner sitting at the other end, and bring his/her partner back to the first rep's starting point. The first group to have two reps at the starting point wins. Thinking that it was an easy task? The organizers put barriers along the path, imagine someone blind-folded and had to overcome these barriers.

Next was a skit presentation. We had to play a scene based on the selected movie. Astonishingly my group had chosen a movie called "Broketanic". What movie is that? It is a combination of Brokeback Mountain and Titanic. Gosh...all group members had to perform some acts that depict romance and homosexuality between the same sexes, not just between males onboard the sinking ship Titanic.

The Swift

In the end, my goup was proclaimed the overall champion. MBC President, Sher Leen handed out hampers to the winners (in fact every group got one, but in different sizes). We all mellowed down and rejoiced as we unwrapped our prizes.

And that was the meaningful end to the night's festivities.
