Brisbane Tour 4

16 July, 2007 | Written by Patchay at 6:47 PM in

Part 4 - Brisbane Square, Queen Street Mall area (other Queen St area to be continued next time) and Conrad Treasury Casino

Brisbane Square:

Buses move underground!

Brisbane has a bus subway system... where in certain areas the roads underground are only used by buses (with bus terminals down there too), while other vehicles are prohibited. So I guess there won't be any traffic jam down there, thus the buses won't be late!

Queen Street Mall - Brisbane's Golden Mile:

Deparmental stores such as Myer and David Jones, other luxury stores and foodcourts are around the corner.

Cafes and the walkway area.

The roof structure is an icon of Queen Street.

Conrad Treasury at George Street:

Front view of Conrad at the interjunction of Queen and George Street.

Rear view of Conrad from Queens Gardens.

Queens Gardens:

Formerly a government building, this old building is now used as Conrad Treasury's Hotel. In front is Queen Victoria's statue.

The Old Commissariat and Old State Library (left picture) and a statue of early 20th century Queensland State Prime Minister (right).

Coming up next: We'll leave the city center to visit Fortitude Valley (Brisbane's nightlife district) and Chinatown.
